Hurricane Letter 2021

To whom it may concern:
The bearer of this letter is an employee at Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus. As part of the Emergency Management Plan employees are required to report to work to provide staffing coverage to ensure patient safety and care during times of emergencies/disasters. All employees must identify themselves with an appropriate Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus identification badge.
General Information
Hurricane Watch means a hurricane may threaten an area. (Within 48 hours)
Hurricane Warning means a hurricane is expected to strike an area. (Within 36 hours)
Alpha (before and during) employees will report to work one hour after the hurricane warning goes into effect. Employees should be prepared to stay at the hospital prior to the hurricane and at least 24 hours post hurricane. Alpha will be initiated upon the authorization of the CEO or Designee.
Bravo (after) employees are expected to report back for duty post hurricane once the roads are declared safe to travel and be prepared to stay for at least 48 hours. Employees who work during (Alpha) the hurricane will be relieved of duty as soon as Bravo staffing permits. Employees should not be calling work asking if they should be reporting to work, etc. they should return to work as communicated by their department director.
At the point of a hurricane WARNING, all regular schedules are canceled and the Hurricane Plan goes into effect. All time off that has not already been taken on the day the warning goes into effect will be canceled
Alpha staff employees are required to notify their Department Director/Manager of any special needs or accommodations that are required. The Outpatient Unit, 2nd Floor (2 North) and the 4th floor will be used to shelter Alpha employees if needed.
Larkin Community Hospital Palm Spring Campus employees who are staffing during Alpha (during a hurricane) are expected to bring the following items:
- Battery powered radios/TVs
- Medications
- Flashlights
- Spare batteries
- Soap, towels, toiletries, clothing, baby wipes, etc.
- Bedding (sleeping bags, bedrolls, or mat to sleep/rest on when off duty)
- Drinking water – 1 gallon per person per day
- Snacks, food, etc.
- Personal off time PPE
- Disinfected Lysol Spray, Lysol Wipes, etc.
- Any other necessary items which you will require
